The rich man also died and was buried, and his soul went to the place of the dead. There, in torment, he saw Lazarus in the far distance with Abraham. “The rich man shouted, `Father Abraham, have some pity! Send Lazarus over here to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in anguish in these flames.’ “But Abraham said to him, `Son, remember that during your lifetime you had everything you wanted, and Lazarus had nothing. So now he is here being comforted, and you are in anguish. And besides, there is a great chasm separating us. Anyone who wanted to cross over to you from here is stopped at its edge, and no one there can cross over to us.’ “Then the rich man said, `Please, Father Abraham, send him to my father’s home. For I have five brothers, and I want him to warn them about this place of torment so they won’t have to come here when they die.’ “But Abraham said, `Moses and the prophets have warned them. Your brothers can read their writings (God’s Word) anytime they want to.’ “The rich man replied, `No, Father Abraham! But if someone is sent to them from the dead, then they will turn from their sins.” “But Abraham said, ‘If they won’t listen to Moses and the prophets, they won’t listen even if someone rises from the dead.”

For I never cheat, I don’t sin, I don’t commit adultery, I fast twice a week, and I give you a tenth of my income.’ “But the tax collector stood at a distance and dared not even lift his eyes to heaven as he prayed. Instead, he beat his chest in sorrow, saying, `O God, be merciful to me, for I am a sinner.’ I tell you, this sinner, not the Pharisee, returned home justified before God. For since the CREATION of the WORLD His INVISIBLE attributes, His ETERNAL power and DIVINE nature, have been CLEARLY SEEN, being understood through what has been MADE, so that they are WITHOUTEXCUSE. For even though they KNEW GOD, they did NOT HONOR HIM as GOD or give THANKS, but they became FUTILE in their SPECULATIONS, and their FOOLISH HEART was DARKENED. Professing to be WISE, they became FOOLS, and exchanged the GLORY of the INCORRUPTIBLE GOD for an IMAGE in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures. Therefore God gave them over in the LUSTS of their HEARTS to IMPURITY, so that their BODIES would be DISHONORED among them. For they EXCHANGED the TRUTH of GOD for a LIE, and worshiped and served the CREATURE rather than the CREATOR, who is blessed forever. Amen…”

But because you are Stubborn and Refuse to Turn from your Sin, you are Storing up Wrath (Terrible Punishment) for yourself. For a Day of Wrath (Anger) is coming, when God’s Righteous Judgment will be revealed. He will Judge everyone according to what they have done. He will give Eternal Life to those who keep on doing Good, seeking after the Glory and Honor and Immortality that God offers. But he will pour out his Anger and Wrath on those who live for themselves, who Refuse to Obey the Truth and instead live lives of wickedness. He has done this through Christ Jesus, who has freed us by taking away our sins. For God sent Jesus to take the punishment for our sins and to satisfy God’s anger against us. We are made right with God when we believe that Jesus shed his blood, sacrificing his life for us. God was being entirely fair and just when he did not punish those who sinned in former times. And he is entirely fair and just in this present time when he declares sinners to be right in his sight because they believe in Jesus. Can we boast, then, that we have done anything to be accepted by God? No, because our acquittal is not based on our good deeds. It is based on our faith. Much more then, having now been JUSTIFIED by His HIS BLOOD, we shall be SAVED from the WRATH of GOD through Him. For if while we were ENEMIES we were RECONCILED to GOD through the DEATH of HIS SON, much more, having been RECONCILED, we shall be SAVED by HIS LIFE. 11) And not only this, but we also EXULT in GOD through our LORD JESUS CHRIST, through whom we have now received the RECONCILIATION. But if I do the very thing I do NOT want to DO, I agree with the Law, confessing that the Law is good. So now, no longer am I the one doing it, but SIN which DWELLS in me. For I know that NOTHING GOOD DWELLS IN ME, that is, in my FLESH; for the WILLING is present in me, but the DOING of the GOOD is NOT. For the GOOD that I WANT, I DO NOT DO, but I PRACTICE the VERY EVIL that I do NOT WANT. But if I am DOING the very thing I do NOT WANT, I am NO LONGER the one doing it, but SIN which DWELLS in me. I find then the principle that EVIL is present in me, the one who wants to DO GOOD. For I joyfully concur with the law of God in the INNER MAN, but I see a different law in the members of my body, WAGING WAR against the law of my MIND and making me a PRISONER of the law of sin which is in my members. God is the one who JUSTIFIES, 34) who is the one who CONDEMNS? Jesus is He who DIED, yes, rather who was RAISED, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us. 35) Who will separate us from the LOVE OF CHRIST? THREE TIMES I was BEATEN WITH RODS. Once I was STONED. THREE TIMES I was SHIPWRECKED. Once I spent a WHOLE NIGHT AND A DAY ADRIFT AT SEA. I have traveled on many LONG JOURNEYS. I have FACED DANGER FROM RIVERS AND FROM ROBBERS. I have FACED DANGER FROM MY OWN PEOPLE, the Jews, as well as from the Gentiles. I have FACED DANGER IN THE CITIES, IN THE DESERTS, AND ON THE SEAS. And I have FACED DANGER from men who CLAIM to be BELIEVERS BUT ARE NOT.I have worked HARD AND LONG, enduring MANY SLEEPLESS NIGHTS. I have been HUNGRY and THIRSTY and have OFTEN GONE WITHOUT FOOD. • Galatians 5:16-26 “So I advise you to live according to your new life in the Holy Spirit. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. The old sinful nature loves to do evil, which is just opposite from what the Holy Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are opposite from what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, and your choices are never free from this conflict. But when you are directed by the Holy Spirit, you are no longer subject to the law. When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, your lives will produce these evil results: sexual immorality, impure thoughts, eagerness for lustful pleasure, idolatry, participation in demonic activities, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, divisions, the feeling that everyone is wrong except those in your own little group, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other kinds of sin. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God. But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives, he will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Here there is no conflict with the law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. If we are living now by the Holy Spirit, let us follow the Holy Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. Let us not become conceited, or irritate one another, or be jealous of one another.”

You used to live just like the rest of the world, full of sin, obeying Satan, the mighty prince of the power of the air. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God. All of us used to live that way, following the passions and desires of our evil nature. We were born with an evil nature, and we were under God’s anger just like everyone else. But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so very much, that even while we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s special favor that you have been saved!) For he raised us from the dead along with Christ, and we are seated with him in the heavenly realms—all because we are one with Christ Jesus. Obscene stories, foolish talk, and coarse jokes—these are not for you. Instead, let there be thankfulness to God. You can be sure that no immoral, impure, or greedy person will inherit the Kingdom of Christ and of God. For a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world. Don’t be fooled by those who try to excuse these sins, for the anger of God will fall on all who disobey him. Don’t participate in the things these people do. Then, whether I come and see you again or only hear about you, I will know that you are standing side by side, fighting together for the FAITH, which is the GOOD NEWS.”
  • Philippians 2:5-11 “You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross. Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

  • Philippians 2:12-13 (NASB) “So then, my BELOVED, just as you have always OBEYED, not as in my PRESENCE ONLY, but now much more in my ABSENCE, WORK OUT your SALVATION with FEAR and TREMBLING; for it is GOD who is at WORK IN YOU, both to WILL and to WORK for HIS GOOD PLEASURE.”

For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the call of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, all the Christians who have died will rise from their graves. • 1 Thessalonians 5:2-11 – THE RAPTURE – “For you know quite well that the day of the Lord will come unexpectedly, like a thief in the night. When people are saying, “All is well; everything is peaceful and secure,” then disaster will fall upon them as suddenly as a woman’s birth pains begin when her child is about to be born. And there will be no escape. But you aren’t in the dark about these things, dear brothers and sisters, and you won’t be surprised when the day of the Lord comes like a thief. For you are all children of the light and of the day; we don’t belong to darkness and night. So be on your guard, not asleep like the others. Stay alert and be sober. Night is the time for sleep and the time when people get drunk. But let us who live in the light think clearly, protected by the body armor of faith and love, and wearing as our helmet the confidence of our salvation. For God decided to save us through our Lord Jesus Christ, not to pour out his anger on us. He died for us so that we can live with him forever, whether we are dead or alive at the time of his return. So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.”

When the ground soaks up the falling rain and bears a Good Crop for the Farmer, it has God’s Blessing. But if a Field bears Thorns and Thistles (Thorny Ground Hearer), it is useless. The Farmer will soon condemn that field and burn it.”

There is only the terrible expectation of God’s Judgment and the raging fire that will consume his enemies. For anyone who refused to Obey the Law of Moses (Old Testament People) was put to death without Mercy on the Testimony of two or three witnesses. Just think how much WORSE THE PUNISHMENT will be for those (New Testament people) who have trampled on the Son of God, and have treated the Blood of the Covenant, which made us Holy, as if it were Common and Unholy, and have insulted and disdained the Holy Spirit who brings God’s Mercy to us. For we know the one who said, “I will take revenge. I will pay them back.” He also said, “The Lord will judge his own people.” It is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
  • Hebrews 10:32-38 “Think back on those early days when you first learned about Christ. Remember how you remained faithful even though it meant terrible suffering. Sometimes you were exposed to public ridicule and were beaten, and sometimes you helped others who were suffering the same things. You suffered along with those who were thrown into jail. When all you owned was taken from you, you accepted it with joy. You knew you had better things waiting for you in eternity. Do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord, no matter what happens. Remember the great reward it brings you! Patient endurance is what you need now, so you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised. “For in just a little while, the Coming One will come and not delay. And a righteous person will live by faith. But I will have no pleasure in anyone who turns away.”

Therefore it says, “GOD is OPPOSED to the PROUD, but GIVES GRACE to the HUMBLE.” SUBMIT therefore to GOD. RESIST the DEVIL and he will FLEE from you. DRAW NEAR to God and HE will DRAW NEAR to you. CLEANSE your HANDS, you SINNERS; and PURIFY your HEARTS, you DOUBLE-MINDED. Be HUMBLE and MOURN and WEEP; let your LAUGHTER be turned into MORNING and your JOY to GLOOM. Your New Life did not come from your earthly parents because the life they gave you will end in death. But this New Life will last forever because it comes from the Eternal, Living Word of God. As the prophet says, “People are like grass that dies away; their beauty fades as quickly as the beauty of wildflowers. The grass withers, and the flowers fall away. But the word of the Lord will last forever.” And that Word is the Good News that was preached to you.

  • 2 Peter 1:5-11 “So make every effort to apply the benefits of these promises to your life. Then your faith will produce a life of moral excellence. A life of moral excellence leads to knowing God better. Knowing God leads to self-control. Self-control leads to patient endurance, and patient endurance leads to godliness. Godliness leads to love for other Christians, and finally you will grow to have genuine love for everyone. The more you grow like this, the more you will become productive and useful in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But those who fail to develop these virtues are blind or, at least, very shortsighted. They have already forgotten that God has cleansed them from their old life of sin. So, dear brothers and sisters, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Doing this, you will never stumble or fall away. And God will open wide the gates of heaven for you to enter into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”

And MANY will FOLLOW their DESTRUCTIVE WAYS, because of whom the WAY of TRUTH will be BLASPHEMED. • 2 Peter 3:3-13 “In the Last Days there will be scoffers who will laugh at the truth and do every evil thing they desire. This will be their argument: “Jesus promised to come back, did he? Then where is he? Why, as far back as anyone can remember, everything has remained exactly the same since the world was first created.” They deliberately forget that God made the heavens by the word of His command, and He brought the earth up from the water and surrounded it with water. Then He used the water to destroy the world with a mighty flood. And God has also commanded that the heavens and the earth will be consumed by fire on the day of judgment, when ungodly people will perish. But you must not forget, dear friends, that a day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day. The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise to return, as some people think. No, He is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to perish, so He is giving more time for everyone to repent. But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and everything in them will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be exposed to judgment. Since everything around us is going to melt away, what holy, godly lives you should be living! You should look forward to that day and hurry it along—the day when God will set the heavens on fire and the elements will melt away in the flames. But we are looking forward to the new heavens and new earth he has promised, a world where everyone is right with God.”

By this we know THAT WE ARE IN HIM: the one who says he ABIDES IN HIM ought himself to walk in the SAME MANNER as He (Jesus) walked.”
  • 1 John 2:15-17 (NASB) “Do NOT love the WORLD nor the things in the WORLD. If anyone LOVES the WORLD, the love of the Father is not in him. For ALL that is in the WORLD the LUST of the FLESH and the LUST of the EYES and the BOASTFUL PRIDE OF LIFE, is NOT from the FATHER, but is from the WORLD. • 1 John 2:15-18 “Stop loving this evil world and all that it offers you, for when you love the world, you show that you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only the lust for physical pleasure, the lust for everything we see, and pride in our possessions. These are not from the Father. They are from this evil world. And this world is fading away, along with everything it craves. But if you do the will of God, you will live forever. Dear children, the last hour is here. You have heard that the Antichrist is coming, and already many such antichrists have appeared. From this we know that the end of the world has come.”
  • 1 John 3:8-10 (NASB) “The one who PRACTICES SIN is of the DEVIL; for the DEVIL has SINNED from the beginning. The SON OF GOD appeared for this purpose, to DESTROY the WORKS of the DEVIL. NO ONE who is BORN OF GOD practices SIN, because HIS SEED ABIDES in him; and he CANNOT SIN, because he is BORN OF GOD. By this the CHILDREN OF GOD and the CHILDREN of the DEVIL are OBVIOUS: anyone who does NOT PRACTICE RIGHTEOUSNESS is NOT of GOD, NOR the ONE who does NOT LOVE his BROTHER.”
  • 1 John 3:6-10 “So if we continue to live in him, we won’t sin either. But those who keep on sinning have never known him or understood who he is. Dear children, don’t let anyone deceive you about this: When people do what is right, it is because they are righteous, even as Christ is righteous. But when people keep on sinning, it shows they belong to the Devil, who has been sinning since the beginning. But the Son of God came to destroy these works of the Devil. Those who have been born into God’s family do not sin, because God’s life is in them. So they can’t keep on sinning, because they have been born of God. So now we can tell who are children of God and who are children of the Devil. Anyone who does not obey God’s commands and does not love other Christians does not belong to God.”

So then, since we have a GREAT HIGHPRIEST who has entered HEAVEN, JESUS the SON OF GOD, let us HOLD FIRMLY to what we BELIEVE. This HIGH PRIEST of ours UNDERSTANDS our WEAKNESSES, for He Faced ALL of the same TESTINGS we do, yet he did NOT SIN. So let us come BOLDLY to the THRONE of our GRACIOUS GOD. • 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NKJV) “ALL SCRIPTURE is given by INSPIRATION of GOD, & is PROFITABLE for DOCTRINE, for REPROOF, for CORRECTION, for INSTRUCTION in RIGHTEOUSNESS, that the man of God may be COMPLETE, thoroughly equipped for every GOOD WORK.”
  • 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV) “STUDY to show yourself APPROVED unto God, a WORKMAN that needs not to be ASHAMED, RIGHTLY dividing the WORD of TRUTH.

  • Hebrews 4:12-16 (NLT) “For the WORD OF GOD is ALIVE and POWERFUL. It is SHARPER than the SHARPEST TWO-EDGED SWORD, cutting between SOUL and SPIRIT, between JOINT and MARROW. It EXPOSES our INNERMOST THOUGHTS and DESIRES. NOTHING in all Creation is hidden from God. Everything is NAKED and EXPOSED before His Eyes, and He is the one to whom we are ACCOUNTABLE. So then, since we have a GREAT HIGH PRIEST who has entered HEAVEN, JESUS the SON OF GOD, let us HOLD FIRMLY to what we BELIEVE. This HIGH PRIEST of ours UNDERSTANDS our WEAKNESSES, for He Faced ALL of the same TESTINGS we do, yet he did NOT SIN. So let us come BOLDLY to the THRONE of our GRACIOUS GOD. There we will receive HIS MERCY, and we will find GRACE to HELP US when we need it most.”

By keeping it according to YOUR WORD.10) With ALL MY HEART I have sought You; Do not let me wander from YOUR COMMANDMENTS. 11) Your WORD I have TREASURED (HID) in my HEART, that I may NOT SIN against You.”
